Honda Marine March Madness
March Madness is a term thrown around all the time and here at Honda Marine it's no different.
Honda Marine is involved with a slew of fabulous activities during March, all of which focus on sustainability of fishing stocks and protecting the environment.
It may sound like self promotion, but looking after the environment is something that has been at the core of Honda since the very beginning. The man who started it all, Mr Soichiro Honda said 'watercraft should not pollute the waters they ply' and that's something we take very seriously here in New Zealand - and around the world with our other Honda partners.
This month Honda Marine is involved with Hirepool's Big Clean. This event held on March 9th is being run by Sustainable Coastlines and Honda Ambassadors Scott and Mig from Fishing and Adventure are going to be there cleaning the Onehunga Bay coastline too.
That same weekend, March 9th, Honda Marine sponsor the Outdoor Boating Clubs' Family Fishing day. The OBC is the first New Zealand club to hold a wholly catch and release event. It's a trend that is growing as fisho's around the country start to take more responsibility for the ocean stocks. The event's proceeds also go towards supporting the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust.
On March 16th, team Honda Marine head up to support another popular event, the Leigh Fishing Competition. This event again supports the Auckland Rescue Chopper and Honda Marine is proud to be providing the main prize - a Surtees 495 workmate, powered by a Honda BF60! Head along to https://www.leighfishingcontest.org.nz/ and get yourself a ticket to win the big prize!
And...have you managed to watch the Young Ocean Explorers new video? Honda Marine loves being part of Young Ocean Explorers - a great way to make sure the next generation knows how important our oceans are - and how to care for them. It's aimed for your children, but the message is definitely the same - love our ocean!
