We are sometimes asked "Why don't you have an auxiliary motor?" our response is simple - "We have a Honda."

“The 2020 Gamefishing season has already been a standout season for me - 14 Marlin tagged with the last 12 coming in 12 consecutive days. I have no doubt that my Honda BF250 has played a part in our success this year helping raise Marlin behind our Surtees 750 Gamefisher. When you add industry leading fuel efficiency, in my mind you have the perfect Game Fishing Outboard motor.”

  • "I would like to thank Honda Marine NZ and local Honda dealers for supplying such a great product, service and back up over the eleven years since I built my fishing boat 'Westernbreak'."

  • "Great reliable performance. Exceptional service from Doug Brown. Vast knowledge and experience. Thorough orientation with new boat and motor. Always helpful with after sales service."

  • I can highly recommend this motor. So quiet and economical. It sits on a Maclay 565. At 4500 RPM I get 40mph in calm seas. At 4000rpm I get 33mph. Somewhere around 2 hours motoring for 25 litres on most fishing trips. Honda motorbikes and cars have been very good to me, this BF115 will do the same I’m sure. Extra money well spent for the long term gain!

  • I would like to thank you and the Marlborough Marine team for your outstanding service and upkeep of our compliment of Honda 4 Stroke outboard motors over the last six years. As you are aware our total fleet of five vessels are fitted with Honda's for fuel efficiency and ease of operating and servicing. Your servicing of our motors is to the highest standard which is important in terms of reliability and getting the best out of the Honda's which have performed extremely well.

  • "We run over 15 water taxis throughout the Able Tasman National Park. We Have been running Honda 225 outboards since 2003. With each boat carrying 20 passengers plus gear, a lot is expected from these engines. We have Honda outboards that have done over 2000 hours under these harsh conditions. Honda outboards provide us with fantastic fuel economy and low engine noise and emissions. We have also had fantastic dealer support from Bays outboards in Motueka"

  • On two seperate occasions while standing in the cockpit I had absolute warm fuzzies watching and listening to the performance of our Honda 150hp outboard. A feeling of total confidence in the engineering expertise used in creating our Honda 150. Our cruising speed was around 20 / 25 knots with RPMs between 4000 / 4400 and after 23 hours running our remarkable Honda returned us 10.6 litres per hour. "How much good was our holiday"......"How much better was our holiday"

  • Our last boat of 15 years which was a Ramco 5.5 and a 75hp Mariner to shift to a McLay 631 hooked up to a Honda BF200 I kinda expected an increase in fuel usage given a lot more weight of the vessel alone + bigger engine etc., well with 25hours now on the gauge and me watching our fishing trips like a hawk I can tell you that there has been no increase and if you believe it possible it appears to be using less.

  • We purchased a Honda BF250 from Whangamata Marine. They did an amazing fitting job on our senator 780RH. We have been extremely pleased with the Honda's quietness, fuel economy and torque. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any one. Well done Honda Marine

    Howard & Melanie Budd, Whangamata
  • This photo really speaks for it's self. We've had claims before that due to cleaner exhaust emissions boats powered by Honda motors catch more fish, particularly marlin, but it's kind of hard to substantiate. This photo of a seal in the Marlborough sounds however is pretty hard to argue with! (Photo sent by Stu was of a seal drinking the water from the outboard engine tell tail / water cooling outlet)

  • With a total of 34l of fuel used, it is nearly 30% cheaper to run than the 135 optimax. And being able to hold a conversation with crew makes the trip a bit more interesting. In my opinion, the best 4 stroke on the market and only slightly heavier than optimax. Thanks for making boating even more pleasurable, would thoroughly recommend a switch to Honda.

  • "Our busy company runs 4 water taxis throughout Abel Tasman National Park year round. Fuel efficiency and reliability are paramount in the smooth operation of our business. We have used Honda 225hp outboards since their release in 2003. We have tried and witnessed everything else on the market but nothing comes close to Honda."
